JASMINE GRIFFITHS

Jasmine Griffiths is a Theatre Maker, Dancer and Choreographer. Her practice is centred around combining these mediums in order to create interdisciplinary performance. Her work often revolves around the boundary between Theatre and Dance and whether, indeed, there is a boundary at all. This is why she blends the two with the intention of creating a seamless hybrid performance that cannot be categorised as either one style or the other. Although not mainly focused on text and music, she appreciates and intertwines moments of both into her work.

 

This means she often works collaboratively; which is shown in the work with associates such as South Bankers and Sonder Theatre. Having co-founded both companies whilst at University, Jasmine uses her skills in Theatre and Movement alongside the other members who bring strengths in similar or complimenting mediums to her own. Both companies allow her to continue working in the fields that interest her, whilst learning and training in others that interest her collaborators.

In addition, Jasmine herself has a blog and a YouTube channel that she maintains independently.

Now that she has obtained her degree in BA(Hons) Theatre at Falmouth University, Jasmine is looking for work within the Arts industry. She currently works at both the local theatres in Weston-super-Mare: Box Office Administration and Coordinator of Marketing & Publicity at the Blakehay Theatre and Front of House Assistant at The Playhouse Theatre. Both jobs, within the theatre environment, provide invaluable experience and aid her when it comes to creating/preparing her own work.

Jasmine is currently both performing and creating, respectively; focused mainly on Dance & Choreography. Through this, she is expanding her experience within the field ready to put herself forward for larger projects and performances in the future.
